RGT Rating

The Moondrop Aria 2 is a refined evolution of the legendary Aria series, moving toward a more mature, balanced, and technically capable sound. It serves as a fantastic "safe" recommendation for those who want a premium-feeling metal build and a sound that works for almost any genre. It is particularly strong for users who swap between mobile devices and balanced DAC/Amps thanks to its excellent modular cable.

Imaging and Soundstage: 3.5/5

Offers a rounded and natural soundstage. While it isn't the widest on the market, it provides better verticality and depth than its predecessor. Imaging is fairly accurate and handles busy tracks well without becoming congested, making it reliable for general gaming and immersive media, though it lacks the hyper-precision of "analytical" sets like the Hexa.

Sound Signature: Refined Harman-Neutral, Smooth

Follows Moondrop's VDSF target (Harman-inspired) with a focus on timbre accuracy and smoothness.

  • Bass: Features a clean sub-bass boost that provides a deeper thump and meatier body than the original Aria. It’s well-textured and stays strictly in its own lane without muddying the mids.

  • Midrange: The star of the show. Vocals are natural, clear, and forward. It strikes a beautiful balance between warmth and clarity, making it excellent for vocal-centric music and clear in-game dialogue.

  • Treble: Smooth and safe. It has enough air and sparkle to feel "hi-fi" but is tuned specifically to avoid harshness, making it very easy to listen to for hours on end.

Comfort: 4/5

The ergonomic shape is time-tested and sits comfortably in the ear. The shell is slightly larger than the original Aria, but the smooth finish and well-angled nozzle provide a secure fit. The metal housing adds a premium weight that feels substantial without being heavy enough to cause fatigue.

Versatility: 4.5/5

Extremely versatile due to the modular cable system. Being able to switch between 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced out of the box adds immense value. Sound-wise, its balanced nature makes it a "jack-of-all-trades" that handles everything from competitive shooters to classical music with poise.

Potential Drawbacks:

  • Tip Selection: Only includes 3 pairs of basic silicone tips. Given the price, many competitors offer a much wider variety (like the Dunu Titan S2), so you might find yourself wanting to upgrade to aftermarket tips like Spring Tips or SpinFits.

  • Nozzle Size: While the brass nozzle is high-quality and replaceable, it is on the larger side, which could be a point of pressure for users with very small ear canals.

  • Paint/Finish: While improved over the original Aria (which was prone to bubbling), the matte finish on the alloy shell can still show signs of wear or small chips over long-term heavy use if not handled with care.
