RGT Rating

The Moondrop Lan 2 takes the technical base of the original and adds much-needed versatility. The inclusion of a 4.4mm balanced cable and adapter out of the box is a massive value win, though the "Ref" version may be polarizing for those sensitive to treble.

Imaging and Soundstage: 3.5/5

The new glass-dome driver improves transient response, making the imaging even sharper than the V1.

  • REF: Excellent for competitive FPS (Valorant/CS2) where footsteps and reload cues need to be surgically placed.

  • POP: Slightly more "closed-in" due to the increased bass presence, but offers better depth for immersive RPGs.

Sound Signature:

REF (Reference): Neutral-Bright. It’s clinical and lean. It emphasizes clarity and "air," making it a tool for those who want to hear every detail, though it can be fatiguing at high volumes.

POP (Popular): Warm-V-Shape. Think of it as a "Super Chu 2." It adds a punchy mid-bass and more forward vocals, making it much better for general media, action movies, and casual gaming.

Comfort: 3.5/5

Moondrop kept the small, ergonomic MIM shell. It remains one of the best fits for small to medium ears. The weight of the steel feels premium without being heavy enough to cause fatigue during 4-hour sessions..

Versatility: 5/5

With two tuning options and a balanced-ready cable setup, this is a Swiss Army knife. However, it loses a half-point because the REF is almost too bright for some, and the POP can occasionally feel a bit "sharp" in the upper mids.

Potential Drawbacks:

REF Version: Can be "shouty" or thin for users who prefer a cinematic, bass-heavy experience.

POP Version: Some might find it too similar to the cheaper Chu 2 in tuning, though the technicalities are superior.

Build: Like many Moondrop sets, keep them dry! They are sensitive to humidity-related channel imbalance.
