RGT Rating

The NF Acous RG05 is a purpose-built tactical gaming IEM (collaborating with Knives Out) that leans heavily into HRTF-optimized spatial positioning. Outfitted with an integrated Type-C DSP chip, it delivers a zero-fuss, plug-and-play solution optimized explicitly for pinpointing audio cues in competitive battle royales and shooters.

Imaging and Soundstage: 4/5

Sharply tuned for tactical awareness. Thanks to its diffused-field HRTF tuning, it excels at pinpointing directional sound vectors—making footsteps, reloads, and distant gunshots stand out with distinct angular clarity, giving you a competitive edge over standard consumer IEMs.

Sound Signature: HRTF-Optimized, Tactical, and Clean

Tuned specifically to prioritize critical acoustic information while keeping distractions minimal.

  • Bass: Lean and agile. The 6mm driver provides enough sub-bass texture for basic impact, but it stays entirely out of the way of lower-mid frequencies to prevent muddy explosions from drowning out vital team callouts.

  • Midrange: Clean, forward, and highly intelligible. Dialogue, voice chat, and mid-frequency weapon handling cues cut effortlessly through chaotic background audio.

  • Treble: Crisp and energetic with optimized micro-detail retrieval. It highlights high-frequency spatial cues cleanly, though it leans toward a bright clinical profile.

Comfort: 4.5/5

Weighing a negligible amount per side with an ergonomic, compact custom-shaped polycarbonate shell, it disappears in the ear. It avoids the physical pressure hotspots common with larger multi-driver shells, making it exceptionally comfortable for multi-hour gaming sessions.

Versatility: 3.5/5

Weighing a negligible amount per side with an ergonomic, compact custom-shaped polycarbonate shell, it disappears in the ear. It avoids the physical pressure hotspots common with larger multi-driver shells, making it exceptionally comfortable for multi-hour gaming sessions.

Potential Drawbacks:

The treble is quite energetic. While it provides great detail, it can feel "spicy" or slightly sibilant on some tracks if you are sensitive to high frequencies. It also requires a good seal to get the best bass response; if the tips don't fit perfectly, the sound can become overly thin.
